So Ares is having surgery today. We all know how I am about him. So the other night at usually I always check him and the crew over. This check over includes their teeth. Well I don’t know how or what he did but he cracked his back molar. Ugh I thought we’re gonna have to extract it, I really did not want that to be the only option.
So I call the dentist and he said after looking him that he can fix it with a root canal and he will put a metal cap on it.
I thought brilliant, but right now I know they are going to have to put him under and I’m freaking out. I don’t like him being out under .... it’s scary.
Anyways it’s a two part procedure. Today he is getting a root canal, X-rays, blood work, and impressions done.
The next one he will be getting a full cleaning even though the doc said he doesn’t need it lol and his metal cap on :/
I’ll be sure to take pics of his terminator tooth lol

Hang in there! I don’t like the idea of them being under either, but for all the trouble these crazy Dobers can get into, this isn’t the worst! Keep us posted on how he is doing. When can you bring him home? Or are you at the dentist now? It’s great that they can fix it.

He’s still there I’m waiting anxiously to go get my sweet boy. I hate that he’s not home but he needed to get this done :( lucky I caught it fast

I don't think any of us like having a dog put under but he'll be fine. Thank goodness it's nothing serious and that they can fix the tooth.

Keep us posted.

He’ll be just fine, Amanda! By the sounds of it he’s in great hands. I know this won’t lessen your worry and you just want your sweet boy home, but you caught it early before it became troublesome.
Keep us updated on his progress and wishing him a speedy recovery!

Id be full of anxiety also, but it seems like a fairly mild procedure. He should be just fine! I am however interested on seeing this metal cap. Never saw one on a dog or even thought they did those things. I assumed they would just pull a damaged tooth.

That was the last option I wanted lol

Aww, Wonderdobe. His jaws are just too strong! Too bad it wasn't a canine tooth – kinda' killer looking. Seriously though, I know it hasn't been a pleasant experience for you.

How is Ares this morning? Been thinking about you both. He most likely will act like it was no big deal and give you extra loving to calm you down. :D
These boys have a way of doing just that!
If it was me I would be whining for days. Lol I hate dental work!!

I imagined you whining like a Doberman. Only Doberman whining is real whining. Human whining is nothing compared to them lol.
When my jaw was wired after an upper cut to the chin from Bogie’s head, I did a bit of colorful language through clenched teeth but never actually whined.
I did not want anyone to see me feeling sorry for myself. Hahahaha

Thank you everyone ! He’s doing great not a peep out of him. No whining or nothing.
It looks so much better and I imagine it has to feel so much better. He gets his anti inflammatory at 12 pm today. He’s had his breakfast and is now asleep on the couch :)
His dentist did a great job. He said besides the break he has wonderful and very clean teeth but unfortunately accidents happen. At least he is recovering nicely and not in pain which is what matters.

Depends on how bad the break is. Ares didn’t damage it to bad. He chipped it which would be the best way to explain it so they are able to do a root canal and then cap it like a human. They make ceramic caps for dogs as well, but the dentist wants to put a metal cuz the ceramic would hold up in the back of the mouth lol
