Random Photo of the Day - 2019 - post yours!

@MyBuddy and @jazziesmum thank you. I’m also sentimental and me and my dad were very close, he was my best friend and always will be. This place is very special. Seems so wrong to not be able to come back or someone else to live here. But I’m trying to keep positive, because good things are to come! Change is hard, especially after so many good years.

So one of my coworkers knows someone with a 10mth old female doberman who is looking for a new home. I have no other background info. But gosh its so tempting to at least look further into it. We talk about getting a female often but we never actually said “lets do it.”

Im trying to tell myself no. Im wondering how much more difficult it is to have two dober beasts. I lucked out with Jasper. He is pretty easy to keep content, but we also raised him on a consistent schedule.

Anyways, enough ranting. Heres Jasper after some ball time.

^^^^^^^^ Oh my! Look at those eyes!!! :woot2: He obviously looooooooves ball time.
So tempting to add another when you hear of a dog in need. You do know of course that it will be all over if you go and meet her.

^ My better half said he wouldn’t mind meeting her. The dogs would only be a month apart in age. Im not sure if waiting until Jasper settles would be better for our sanity. Theres so many “what IFs.”

Gosh you are right though. If we meet her we may as well buy another crate and food dish the day of XD

What a happy boy! The wild eyes say it all lol.

Such a temptation to get that female. If she comes from good breeding, I would be all over it haha. I agree that if you decide to meet her, you need to discuss beforehand how you and the SO will evaluate her. I would have her do a sleepover, at minimum.

From personal experience AND reading others experiences, YES it will definitely be better for your sanity to wait! Usually two years old is the ticket. Young enough to easily adapt to a new dog but the training foundation is set, tried and tested. The new dog will also follow the lead and good behavior of your trained dog.

How old is Jasper now? I like to wait until the older dog is about 2 but it can work if it's not that much too.

IMO it's easier with 2 since they can interact and wear each other down and it sounds like your consistent schedule would be a big help. As long as they both get one on one training it can work.

Jasper is actually younger than the female but not by much. He is 9mths old. Still my little baby! Thats what I was thinking though. There are days I wish he had a playmate so he isn’t up my butt all the time. But then I think, well what if she is up my butt all the time too?! Then ill have two dobersharks bumping into me 24/7 haha!

I found out that the owners already had her spayed.

Della still has to keep Albert in line. Don't ask me how she makes her feet and lower legs disappear like that since the bed is pretty firm. LOL
Both playing by bed Della snarling Sept 2 19.JPG

^^^^ Della certainly looks feisty!

This is Jazz, naked and enjoying her evening guard duties. She really loves having no collar on for the daylight hours.jazz0360.JPG

Then the play session, long walk and good feed take their toll..................time to settle for the night. :love:jazz0361.JPG

Trust me you have two cheeks and each one will nose bump your checks at the same time. I swear if I were to stop quickly they would go from Doberman faces to bulldog faces. They both nose bump the calves of my legs when I go upstairs like they are counting the steps by bumping my legs. Lol

I found having two Dobies no problem. It's always been one male and one female. We also have a fourteen pound female Sheltie.

The Dobies play with each other. I've been told that some Dobies play by smashing their body into the other one which can cause serious damage.

This is absolutely true. When my male T bones my female and rolls her, she gets up teeth snapping and returns it twofold. I don’t allow them to get too amped up because they are like wrestlers. Scares me one will seriously get hurt so I always intervene before they get wild and crazy.

Interesting! The few times Jasper played with other dogs I noticed he had a totally different style. It was quite comical. We are holding off on the female. I don’t even want to see a photo of her just incase XD. I think I need to follow my gut which is telling me to wait until Jasper is more mature.

Jasper next to the new reef tank. For size the tank is 36”x20”x18” so not huge but in the space it looks quite large. Don't mind the saran wrap thats still in the glass. Ill take that off once all my equipment is hooked up. Cant wait!
