A few days ago I posted about the possibility of getting a puppy from. Breeder that was organized through the Doberman rescue. My family went to meet the litter and there was one that was the perfect temperament, was confident but not too pushy and observant but not apprehensive or shy. He was extremely slow and gentle when meeting my 2 year old. Meet our new boy Ramsey! He was picked up yesterday and is settling in very well! I am sure many questions will be coming!

Many days of joy and challenge in store for you! Enjoy the ride, and I hope you keep us updated and lots of pics! :)

Oh my, he is gorgeous!!!!

Congratulations!!

We are here if you need assistance, just ask.

Thanks everyone! The kids are coming around, especially my oldest (4 yo). Ramsey the pup had the chance to hang out with 5 of the 2-4 year olds in my neighborhood and he did amazing, very playful and gentle. He’s had the chance to meet 5 or so of my adult neighbors too. I love how when he sees some one for the first time, he stops, checks in with me and then goes in to greet and play after I show him that it’s ok. Not apprehensive at all, just assessing. He’s a good boy! ( so far :) )

Be prepared for the constant nipping and biting if it shows.

He really can’t help it. It’s his way to express himself and play. Dobermans tend to be very mouthy and those damn teeth are extremely sharp. Be prepared with a chew toy or tug rope when he comes at you. Redirect redirect redirect with the toy!! They are called DoberSharks for a reason!! This stage will end but it will take a while, at least through teething which is about 6-7months and then some.

Having young children in the household will be tough because a young Doberman not only does not know its own clumsy strength but thinks a young child as a very fun play toy.

Have to keep your head on a swivel and watch him all the time!!
