Doberman puppy owners - track your weight gain here

I am looking at this and my girl appears to be big.

at 9 weeks - she was 12 lbs
at 12 weeks - 20 lbs
at 27 weeks - 51.1 lbs

Gosh this makes me feel really bad. Ashra's quite skinny right now - I noticed that I was able to quite a few of her ribs yesterday afternoon so I set out to get a proper measuring cup. I then realized I haven't been measuring her food properly and underfeeding her on top of the whole soft poop/diarrhea situation . Weighed her in at the vet today, and she has lost almost 2kg (about 4lb) since last week. Talk about unnecessary dieting.

The not so funny part is that I've been obsessed about keeping weight on Ashra since she was about 6 months old, and had a liver infection. Now it's my fault she looks like a street urchin . No wonder she seemed like she had more of an appetite lately.

I've been quite busy lately, so I actually forgot to update. Anyway, it turned out Ashra did have worms again, then she went into heat for the first time and wasn't eating very well so she dropped a kilo... bleh. Good news: when I weighed her today she's the heaviest she's been for a long time and I've noticed she's starting to get her muscle mass back so I HOPE *knocking on all the wooden objects in my apartment* that means we're finally done with the parasite crap and that going through her heat gave a boost to her immune system or something and that she will keep the weight on and keep gaining, especially with her first show coming up next weekend !

Face of shame (yes, I had to pick a bright and colourful pair of panties for her haha)

How old was she when she went into her first heat. Just curious.

Thanks, Lisa

We are following the guidelines of our vet who is saying not to fix her until about 18 months. This is our first female dog in about 15 years. Prior to dobermans we had huskies and due to being smaller they went into heat at about 6 months.

Well it can vary quite a bit and you can still get bitches coming into heat at 6 months or, for example Ashra's mother went into heat at 11 months.

Gorgeous!!!!!!
did you get a new puppy?

Ozzy with 17 week old Eva - He's on a lead as he's a bit heavy handed with the pup at times, the big lug doesn't know his own weight lol

Disclaimer - A squirmy pup does not make for an accurate measure, take height as a rough guide.[/quote

Gorgeous!!!!! he has leaned up a bit.... as did Baba.... but who is EVA? did you get another one??? omg....
same lineage? So she is going to be a bruiser too???

Lol Diva where have you been!!! we've had Eva a few weeks now however she's not a Dobe she's a Rottie from German working lines, both parents Schutz III.
Here's a thread about her here, a few pics here and more recent pics here

;)

Baba is going to be 18 months on the 17th of this month... he has not gotten any heavier in fact he got a bit ligher when Gemma was in heat... but he is back up to his normal weight which is around 92-94 lbs depending on how much he ate in the morning! :)
Still a perfectly cobby dude at 27" tall.... Today he and Gemma were playing his favorite game of 'Fetch the squeaky ball" his favorite game!

He's looking very nice Diva! I was going to comment when I saw the top pic on FB, but it was on someone elses wall so I couldn't. Wow 18 months already...

Baba is looking good as mentioned above :). But time sure flies, I can't believe we're just a week away from Ashra's first birthday . I need to stop being lazy and get the camera out before she's all grown up.

I don't know why but in pics ashra looks.older than she is to me! Although it may be because indi is a little runt when I comes to measurements (especially compared to ashra!) and because she always looks so shiny and toned in pics. She's going to be. gorgeous when she's all grown up.

That's interesting you say that, I thought her face looks really young for her age? It hasn't changed much since she was 6 months old (she's really good at giving the puppy face to get her way, haha). I think she's quite stocky though, which is why she looks muscular (I really doubt she will get any taller at this point, since she's been the same for the past three months but I have noticed she's filling out slowly). You might be surprised with Indi - Ashra was a midget until about 5 months old. I even made a thread a while back about her being vertically challenged :D

Height wise she's doing well, but weight wise, she was fairly small in comparison to some of the weights on here. However she is gaining steadily at a good pace. Her mum was quite small in comparison to the other dobes there and being in such a big litter as well as being a week early, you're probably right and she will suprise me. Ozzys dad (marko's ozzy) is indi's grandad on her mum's side so you never know. I believe we are at risk of being 'weiners' and thread jacking again ;)

LOL. But we're on topic - quick, post some stats with a photo to hide the comments :D. That reminds me, there needs to be a link on here for those grown up pups to continue onto the 'Adult Dobe Weight' thread. I love statistics.
