Riding in passenger seat?

Every Saturday/Sunday Ragnar and I get up early and go to the fields.

On the way we stop at McDonalds and I get McMuffin and coffee. It’s funny because he sits in passenger seat facing the drive thru window.

The girls in McD’s always get spooked when they see him sitting there alerted with ears erect. Last week the young girl said that he looks like those military dogs because of his ears.

Makes me chuckled every time to see their face when they turn from the register and see Ragnar. They act scared at first but then they say “ohhhh....look at how cute he is”. Then I go from chuckle to laugh because Ragnar is definitely not cute.

Wow, you have him in the passenger seat and he stays put? This was my dream to drive around like that scaring people haha. I wish I could do this but I always think Kaiser would paw slap the shifter and send me in to a ditch lol.

LOL, that must be quite the vision for some of them.

Sometimes he will go to the back seat on his own free will but mostly spends the majority of time in the front passenger seat. My (truck) back windows are really tinted and I believe he gets car sick back there.

He really likes to have his back feet on back seat and front feet on center console with his head bopping around my right ear. If traffic gets hectic or shit just doesn’t feel right, I will make him sit in front seat or make him go to the back. If this happens, he tries to push the boundary and come to stance but use of the ECollar a couple of times let’s him know how serious I am about the command and he adheres.

When I am home, he goes everywhere I go, so him and I have battled this situation since the beginning. Treats do not work when he wants to be bullheaded but the ECollar and/or a firm pinch to his rear leg flank really gets his attention and he settles down.

I do have to say that he has never jumped into me while being in the driver’s seat. The center console is a good barrier and I read his actions very well.

Always been fortunate with this, he loves riding in the truck. He hears my keys and he is outside waiting for me to open the door.

The truck is fairly easy, it is pretty difficult with him in my 66 convertible Ford Fairlane. I have to have him on a leash when the top is down.

@Ddski5, my Dobe from the '90's rode in the front seat of my pick up from day one because I didn't have a back seat in that truck. The only trouble she caused was every time we'd slow down to stop (like a stop light or to exit the freeway), she'd sit up, blocking my outside rear view mirror on the passenger side. It was downright scary because I hauled a horse trailer half the time and so I had to use my side mirrors. I be saying DOWN DOWN LAY DOWN! and she'd be like "what'd I do?"
Asha can't be in the front seat yet at just under 5 months. Too much cray-cray still. They don't make 'em like they use to.

... and to add we cut our teeth on driving a 6 horse trailer to Hollywood Park in LA from Colorado. My '90's dog was just under a year old, and we got to the outskirts of LA about 5 pm. 8 lanes of traffic, never having driven in LA and here I was pulling a 6 horse trailer with a dog as a side kick. I must say that there were some VERY nice drivers, saw my big hunk of steel and let me change lanes. Also of course for you younger folks, no GPS, just a paper map.

Kaiser does this too. Isn’t it the worst when they erupt into barking next to your ear? Lol.

So in the front seat, he doesn’t slip and slide around? Does he ever bark at people pulled up next to you?

The only trouble she caused was every time we'd slow down to stop (like a stop light or to exit the freeway), she'd sit up, blocking my outside rear view mirror on the passenger side.
Blocking the view, this is such a major issue! In some cars he is big enough to block the entire back window haha. Did she ever bark at the cars next to you?

No, she was was a cool customer, only got on defense a couple of times. My puppy of today, however, Lordy! I stopped & rolled down the window to talk to a neighbor and she set off like nobody's business. And I couldn't reach her to reinforce the Shut Up Already command, so she really embarrassed me in front of my neighbor (who hadn't met her yet).

No, he really does not bark at all.

He will bark on command and only if there is a situational demand for it, otherwise he is just extremely alert.

I just came in from a walk with him. I am going to post a video in the video section. You can see what I mean when I say, he just doesn’t bark, just very alert.

I always think Kaiser would paw slap the shifter and send me in to a ditch lol.

And that right there is exactly what Mo or Bam would do. I roll the back window down a bit so they can see what's going on when we pull up to a drive up window...keeps them from trying to stick their heads around the seat barrier to have a look.
