I posted on here when I accidentally injured my 3 1/2 month old Doberboy Zion by trying a new posting method. I had to let them flop for several weeks. He turned six months old the 13th. The last two postings are just pretty much a flop as soon as they come down and I’ve been leaving them up a week (what his vet did as a puppy). I usually do five days, then rest until later that day, but I’ve done seven out of desperation. The previous two postings showed encouraging improvement. Now back to FLOP! Both ears. If he tips his head forward just a touch, they stand beautifully, but head up completely, we get flop again. That crease at the base just won’t go away. I’m using the method I used in the late ‘90’s, early 2000’s to post- tampon with coban around it, skin bond, tape lightly around outside. I got one Dane and four Dobes standing with this method back then. I have a 0% fail rate so I’m getting Uber frustrated. Any thoughts? He’s pretty near done teething if not 100%. Nice big pearly whites in there. I’m beginning to wonder if the tampon is too narrow, even wrapped fairly heavily in coban to thicken it. I’ve never had a problem, but I never had one this old and BIG not standing by now. When do I give up and just have a floppy eared boy? It is a fairly long crop, but I’ve done one this length before no problem. Just scratching my head. I can’t stabilize that base and that’s kind of the crux of the whole thing, you know? I’ll try to post pics, but just picture any Doberman with a total floppy crop fail and that’s pretty much what he looks like.
