Cowlick on puppy

I haven’t put her on the forum yet but 4 weeks ago the breeders that bred my dog Rubin called me and twisted my arm to take a puppy. At first I was reluctant to but they convinced me and I caved because it sounds like they are winding down and she very well could be from the last litter they produce. To the point though she has like a little Mohawk cowlick on her neck and I was seeking advice on if I should leave it alone or groom it out at a young age.

I'm following this, but admit I don't have any experience or knowledge on it.

Let me just get this out of the way now: Part Ridgeback? I know: :lame:
Seems that way my sister in-law mentioned ridgeback but I have her pedigree and she is 100% Doberman but definitely has a little Mohawk going on back there. I figured it’s best to figure it out early on rather than a few months down the road.

You can trim it down so it's a little flatter, but you won't groom it out.
So in other words it’s there to stay and I can trim periodically? So retraining the hairs growth pattern will not happen ?

Yeah, that was just me making a little :lame: jokie.

Well, it may work in your favor for security purposes – look like his hackles are up a bit.

A cowlick is like a fingerprint, it is what it is and won't change. Personally I think it looks awesome, is it a flaw to AKC showing? Is there any reason to try to disable it?

No reason at all to get rid of it for appearance or show reasons. Posted this out of pure curiosity if there was any action to take.

Well I appreciate the input I wanted to see if it was something that you would try and fix with grooming or not. And now that I know I won’t do anything I’ll just see how it grows with her as she gets bigger.
