How tall and heavy should a German Doberman be at 7 months

Just wanted to ask the weight and height of a 7 month old German Doberman
Mines a boy and he’s 80 pounds and around 28 to 29 inches tall at withers.

They all vary but that's pretty big for a 7 month old and already above the breed standard for height.

Yeah he’s super big and his mother was around 27 and half inches tall so i think his genes are more on his mom

Sounds pretty tall for 7 months but puppies grow in spurts and height is usually finished by the time they are a year old. Being in the bigger size you will really want to watch his weight and not let him get to heavy, it can be very hard on the hips and joints especially while they are still closing until around 15-16 months old.

By German do you mean he’s a European Doberman? I have a Euro and he is 28 at the withers and 78 lbs at 3 years old. He was almost full height by the time he was 10 months old but his weight changed slowly over time. Would love to see a pic of him.

Aww he’s so cute!

I found that my Dobe gained 10 lbs every month until he was 7 months old. After that it was much slower weight gain.

You will want to make sure you don’t neuter him until at least 18 months old. Any earlier and they tend to get taller because the hormones are needed to control the growth.

You sure that gate is 31” tall? It looks lower, like 24 inches compared to whoever is standing. Standard dining room table height is 30”. Yes, I used to sell furniture haha!

So for that height is it a good weight
He looks fine for 7 months, don’t think he looks overly big. I would watch his weight especially once he hits around a year old. He looks a little thick to me but not fat or overweight by all means. I like to keep my dogs on the thin side to reduce stress on there joints for competition. It is amazing what 5 - 10 lbs will do to a dogs abilities.

My current boy is 1/2 German and the rest various other types of Euro. Telling you my boy's size probably wouldn't be helpful because he is not only from working lines (which quite often run smaller) but he is unusually narrow in the chest so he's a real lightweight. He's 28" tall though.

Yeah, your boy there is definitely on the big end of the spectrum. I'd say being 80 lbs. at 28 or 29 inches and 7 months is a good weight for that height. His condition, visually, affirms this.

In researching and acquiring my boy Oji, here, I got the impression that what is coming out of Germany these days is not that impressive looking or performing – compared to some other European countries. I could be wrong of course.

Yeah it’s a special gate so not like the typical ones you will find

So how can I reduce his weight ?
Feeding him less?
