Hello!

I got a puppy with cropped ear, she came home with a cup.

I tried to do the different posting method but she is just shaking her head and dont like it at all.
(backing rod doenst exist where i live... Same with torbot)

so i put the cup again and she is fine with it on the head.

Can I do the posting just with the cup??

Thank you

It wasn't until we got our current Doberman that I even learned what backing rod is. So, yes, tampons work fine.

I seem to read a lot about pups shaking their heads and not liking the postings. This is not normal. The pups usually accept the posting just fine. I think a lot of the time what is going wrong is that the posts either have an uncomfortable surface contacting the inside of the ear and/or the posts are not inserted deeply enough into the ear canal.

Don't worry, the dog's ear won't be hurt by inserting the posts nice and deeply into the ear. So get them in there firmly (within reason, of course).

Welcome!

I don't think that would work well in the long run since it's just for post crop to sort of hold them in place while the incisions are healing.

I agree that they shouldn't shake their heads for more than a few minutes, then they hardly know the posts are there. Tampons should definitely work if you can't get the backer rod there.
