If you look at it from yet another prospective, maybe the jab is at designer dog breeders, and if that were the case it would get a big A+ in my book. I don't think I've ever seen a "designer" Doberman mix yet, and of course that's because a Doberman is too beautiful to mess with perfection. ;)

I personally laughed my ass off at least a half dozen times. I won't let stupid ruin my ability to recognize satire and enjoy it for what it is.

If I am going to take any subliminal message from it I am going to assume that the Sarah Mclachlin part was a big dig towards her.
The Doberman in the beginning is a beautiful well behaved boy.
Lol that was some funny s*** huh? I died when the kid comes screaming around the corner in his big wheel.. And holy omg it killed me every time I heard the characters call the dog "The Doberhuahua!!!" :lmao:

Audi response to concerns over the ad.....

"Hi ****
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. The dog in the commercial is an exaggerated caricature of a fictitious animal. It was meant to be a humorous way to highlight the uncompromised nature of the Audi A3. It is in no way meant to offend loving dog owners. I can assure you that your comments and feedback are taken seriously and will be forwarded to our marketing department for further review."

See thats exactly what makes me sad.. I love seeing my favorite breed on tv.. Weather it be a legitimate dog show during the working group competition or the Zombie Dogs in Resident Evil.. I just enjoy seeing them but somebody always has to go and bitch to the point that they will never again use dogs in their shots. be it ads. or movies. And then we sit and scratch our heads and cry because we never see "Our dogs" on tv..

I laughed my butt off! My pup is in her dober teens and is going through a phase where she barks & bites/pinches us all in the butt. After a little battle between her & my youngest (15 y/o), my daughter showed me the video & said it reminds her of our Dobie! I told her it was her on the big wheel. Lol!!

Another teaser for the commercial

Actually, that's exactly what I took from it! They are saying that Audi doesn't compromise and that breeding these too does. That was my take. :D

Pretty funny stuff and obviously meant to be ridiculous. I also saw it as a jab against the stupid idea of designer breeding. Look at the mass chaos the "designer" dog caused. The Doberman showed no bad behavior at all.

Ok, I will come out of my bubble and broaden my circle. I can see this as a potential jab at the atrocities that can be created by crossing different breeds. As someone else said, even in the end, they compromised and had a mixed breed dog in the car! So... that doesn't back this up at all. I understand they were going for "hybrid" not being the answer, but if they wanted to depict PURE, wouldn't it have made more sense to have either a Dobe or a Chi in the car at the end?

And there are some foolish greeders are using Dobes to make their version of designer dogs.

This commercial in no way positions the Doberman breed in any kind of bad light. It is hilariously absurdist and nails it's purpose right on the head: to get people talking about Audi. As with any public statement you will have people who react to it in an extremist way and people who have more moderate views. eg - there are people who think there should be no dog breeders and only rescue dogs and there are people who think only purebred dogs from breeders are any good. Also in Comedy there is always going to be people offended by generalizations.

I should clarify my last statement - I presented two extremist views on where to get dogs from and did not state that they are on either side of the extremist spectrum with most peoples views being somewhere in the middle. my bad

And I think that is why the dog at the end was a mix anyway. They didn't want to be seen as favoring one breed over the other. Though technically I think the elegance of the Doberman would have made it a better analogy to the Audi than the Chi.

My girlfriend thought her German Shepherd & my Dobie would make cute puppies. Don't worry, I wouldn't! My pup will not be having any puppies.
